ShePrepares

UX  Prototyping  Android  UI

ShePrepares is an app that helps women prepare for job interviews and find their support communities since they might face biased questions and lack professional self-value.

Drawing inspiration from a project in our data analytics class, our team has created a new app with the aim of helping to close the gender pay gap.

The Research


Research methods applied:
  •  Secondary research
  •  Competitors Analysis
  •  8 x Interviews
  •  1 x Survey (20 responses)

Based on the interviews and survey findings we learned that 75% of our potential users lack the knowledge about negotiation techniques and find it challenging to negotiate a salary or ask for a raise. Nearly 50% of the potential users don’t talk about their salaries with their coworkers.  


The Challenge

How can we design an app that effectively reduces the gender pay gap?

After conducting our research, we identified two distinct paths for this project. The first option entails creating an app that primarily focuses on rating companies' salaries and working conditions, similar to existing competitors like Glassdoor or Kununu. Alternatively, we could develop an app that empowers women and equips them with the necessary tools for navigating the job search process.

Following concept testing and gathering feedback, we have made the decision to pursue the second idea.



The Define Phase


We created the empathy map and user journey, which led us further to define our user persona - Sarah.

All the process led to a clear HMW statement: How might we help women build up their self-confidence and prepare for job interviews?


Ideation


After the ideation session with crazy 8 method we were able to identify the topics & features which we want to focus on:

  • self esteem and validation
  • support community
  • negotiation techniques
  • helpful resources
  • maternity & work


The Design


ShePrepares is an app designed for professional women, and we aimed to reflect this through our design choices. The combination of vibrant colors, black and white photos, and playful shapes creates a feminine yet professional design aesthetic.


The Outcome


We have developed an educational product aimed at empowering women, like Sarah, to enhance their self-esteem and foster their professional growth. 



Through the app, individuals can receive specialized interview training tailored to their specific industry or field. Furthermore, the platform facilitates networking by enabling users to connect with professionals in their area, find mentors who can offer guidance, and seek career advice from experienced individuals.

By utilizing this app, women like Sarah can navigate their career paths with confidence and take proactive steps towards achieving their professional goals.
